LA River has been deserted, polluted and forgotten place since it was converted from a free-flowing river to a 50-mile concrete channel in the 1930s to avoid the frequent flood damage. This series is to arouse conversation about what we have lost and what should be done in the future.
As an artist, I am interested in the built environment, which often involves architectural settings. I believe that our built environment, whether it is urban or rural, tells us about cultural, social and historical contexts.
Among many facets of our built environment, what attracts my attention is the failure. The projects or social events that are now generally considered as failure always make me think about why people made the choice and how the things that are happening now will be considered in the future.
