I wanted to merge elements of Japanese warfare and the concept of romance. I like dichotomies- hard and soft, delicate yet resilient, new and aged, strong but emotional.
To make a new collection, I do what my former professor in Portfolio taught me. I explore locations such as museums, parks and galleries; I do a lot of historical research and I research on different tactile surfaces and materials. I research on how my collection will affect all our senses. For now, I've been trying to learn different methods of recycling. I haven't been successful in all my attempts to up-cycle, but I'm glad that I'm still learning.
